GPCA ANNUAL
AWARDS
 The GPCA award rules and
application forms are posted on this site in Acrobat Reader format. The Special
Award winners and AKC Titlist will be honored at the 2008 National Specialty
Awards Banquet. You must apply for Special Awards and medallions by May 31,
2008.
APPLYING JUST GOT
EASIER
The librarian is now receiving a list from AKC of new titlists; therefore,
the certificates presented at the Specialty Banquet will be automatic. If you
want a medallion as well as the certificate, then you still need to send in the
awards application with health information. Awards will be mailed to the GPCA
Award winners who can not attend the Specialty.
All Special Award winners will get certificates only if they apply.
Additionally, those submitting proof of health testing will get a plaque. In
other words, health testing is not required unless you want a plaque or
medallion.
New AKC
Titlists
If you have a new AKC titlist (either performance or new champion) and want a
medallion, print the application and send to the awards chairman along with
health information. Click here for the

It is now easier to apply for the Special Awards (Dog of the Year,
Obedience Dog of the Year, etc.). As an alternative to documenting your
dogs wins via the AKC Awards Magazine, you can get a report from AKC for
$4. This report can be sent along with your application to document your wins
and assist you in completing the application form. Reports can be ordered from
AKC or from the AKC online store. If you order a report from the online store,
then you can print the report directly from the AKC site.
For
Assistance
If you need dates or points from the AKC Awards Magazine, please call or email
Debbie Kaminski, 410-691-2733, and she
will assist you or send you the appropriate rules and forms.
You can also get your dog's wins and points from the
AKC site. Go the the AKC STORE. For those
applying for Dog of the Year, you can attach the AKC Dogs Defeated Detail
Report, Overall with Group and Breed, for a cost of $4. AKC also has reports
for obedience, tracking, agility, and rally. These reports will save you lots
of time and makes applying easy.
HOW TO USE THE AKC
STORE
Go to the AKC SITE and click on STORE. You
will need a logonid and password to use the store so getting a logon is the
first order of business. Just click on LOGIN and follow the directions. Once
you have entered your logon, enter the AKC Reports section and select the dog
you want to use. Select the dog by either AKC number or name. You must spell
the name as on your registration without titles. Then select the report you
want to obtain. Be sure you specify the report type indicating the year
2006-2007. Then click the ADD TO WAGON and go to checkout. Most reports are
from $4 to $10. If you select the report type you want first, never fear. You
will then be asked to select the dog for the report. If you are applying for
DOG of the YEAR, you want to get the DOGS DEFEATED REPORT and indicate the type
as "overall with Group and Breed" for the year 1/01/2006-1/01/2007.
This will get you all the documentation you will need except for BOS and class
wins which you will need to add and document.
You should go to the site and play around with the reports and WAGON to see
how it works. You dont have to pay for anything unless you Check Out. You
can also go to the WAGON and delete the items you dont want. The site
lets you look at examples of the various reports to see if they have the
information you want.
